Schirmherr des Spektakels ist Kulturstaatsminister Bernd Neumann. Aus seinem Haushalt werden die Berliner Festspiele finanziert, die das Straßentheater im Rahmen ihrer Theatersaison "Spielzeit Europa" nach Berlin geholt haben.
 
Zusammen mit seinem französischen Amtskollegen, Frédéric Mitterrand, wird Neumann auch die beiden Riesen am Sonnabend am Brandenburger Tor begrüßen.
 
Neumann: Feiern wir ein Fest der Freude!
 
In seinem Grußwort zum Gastspiel erinnert der Kulturstaatsminister an die großen Glücksmomente beim Fall der Mauer vor 20 Jahren. "Die märchenhafte Überhöhung mit riesigen Marionetten, die sich nach Jahren der Trennung am Brandenburger Tor wiedersehen, erinnert an das "Märchen" jener Tage, das wahr wurde."  
 
Nach dem Dank an alle Partner und Unterstützer wünscht Neumann schließlich den Berlinern und ihren Gästen aus aller Welt: "Lassen Sie sich von der Poesie der Riesen und der technischen Perfektion der Compagnie verzaubern, feiern wir gemeinsam mit den Riesen aus Frankreich ein Fest der Freude!"
 
Die Straßentheater-Compagnie Royal de Luxe wird von Jean Luc Courcoult geleitet. Sie hat mit den Figuren der "Kleinen Riesin" und des "Großen Riesen" bereits Millionen Menschen in London und Santiago de Chile zum Staunen gebracht. Für Berlin hat sich die Truppe eine eigene märchenhafte Geschichte von Trennung und Wiedersehen ausgedacht, die sie in vier Tagen vom 1.- 4. Oktober in den Straßen der Hauptstadt umsetzt.
