Ghosts Of Md Eastern Shore

Donnerstag, 12. August 2010
Morgens um 08:45 Uhr sind We at the border. Outside the gate waiting for the first time and pay admission, 500 Tuguk. The Bafertigung is then, when we were partners in it, very quickly and without problems, despite the repeatedly vordrängelnden Mongols of Equip. 10:00 clock we are done. Then again, it means waiting. First, we do not know what. But the Mongols can only get out as many as let in the Russians. A uniformed man then waved the Russian side are the cars out of each track for cars, trucks, vans and diplomats (though today, many diplomats are on the road, because there are always vehicles by the Mongols left in this lane). It's fun to watch how the Mongolians smuggle. Women undergo before the eyes of the Mongolian customs and police officials several layers Jeans Knitwear us about each other. During the long wait that will probably ziemliich unbbequem, because they get out again and again and tug at their clothing around.
is the Russian side will also gereglet everything right. We just have to go back, our vehicle will be X-rayed, found nothing, we can. 15:50 clock we are through, almost a full day.
on the Russian side, the meadows are eaten almost as kalhler in Mongolia. It is curious that the cows, sheep and goats are still a blade of grass, it's worth to feed themselves.

Wednesday 11. August 2010
Im Ort finden wir keinen schönen Overnight stay, we take another step out of the city in the dunes.

evening, we see many, many shooting stars and one of them was a desire for Clyde.
Tuesday 10 August 2010
This morning we will visit Clyde in the clinic. Martin really wanted to come along, but it is untraceable. So we drive off alone. When we arrive at the hospital, the bed of Clyde is empty. We scare once, but quickly calmed down. The lady at the reception, which has led us to the room did not know that he was driven to the CT. We therefore once again, leaving only its Glasses here.
After visiting the National Museum, we go once again to the clinic. Clyde is in bed, looks much better. than at night. But you want him embarrassed. His insurance does not cover all costs (or perhaps none at all), because the travel health insurance is around 90 days and he is already 98 on the road. So with the Medical Fligth in the United States, it will first see nothing. He should have run more tests, which are cheaper in the other hospital. He is probably when it is stable to fly privately in the U.S. must.
but tomorrow we must continue to Russia, as our visa runs out soon. We say goodbye to Clyde. He promises to come forward as soon as him better. We hope that everything is really good. The tour with the bike was probably too much for him. Hopefully we'll get good news soon.
Monday 09 August 2010
Today we drive back in the morning by bus to the city.
First we look for the Mexican-Indian Restaurant "Los Banditos". This should be hard to find according to the data from the travel know-how. This may be because it is in this book drawn incorrectly in the card and the author has probably driven by its own card and run in the UB.
The food however was wonderful. Connecting visit the Natural History Museum. Are particularly interesting those found in the Gobi dinosaur skeletons.
evening, we sit with some others on the terrace of the Guest Houses. We notice that we have not seen Clyde from the United States.
motorcycle by Clyde

He is 67 years than has sent his motorcycle to Germany and then traveled to Russia to Mongolia. He must have been to Russia to be a not so slight fall have had with the bike is, but then again with the bike down in the Gobi. Anyway, he probably still has pain. But yesterday evening he has, after Connie has invited him to us, with us and the other longer maintained very well at the cafe. Today he wanted to the station to arrange a transfer for his motorcycle to Russia, he will ride the same train, then leave any further to Germany and his bike there. As we are still thinking about whether he is probably still in the city on the road, he staggers across the square. He is barefoot, turns around again, he probably forgot his shoes in the shower.
Conny follows him into the device, in which he lives with 5 other bikers. It's very narrow, dark and the air is bad. Clyde is not well, he vomits, has diarrhea, high fever and chills. He also has pain in the chest, he has not found out of sheer misery his nitroglycerin tablets. He is quickly getting worse. So we get by using Sibylle, the boss of the guesthouse, which we call home, a taxi and tell the SOS Hospital, an international, private clinic. There is no ambulance service do not exist. We share with other guests Clyde through the narrow door through the garden to the taxi and have him "squeezed" fairly precisely what does not improve his condition. Together with Connie still runs Emiel, a veterinarian in Holland in the clinic.
be where we already expected. Once again, a smaller procedure. to get Clyde out of the car in a wheelchair and into bed. It is he really bad. A Mongolian doctor, a nurse and a Scottish doctor take care of Clyde. He is still very bad, but at least he is no longer in the narrow, dark and poorly ventilated yurt. After some research and testing have gone, it is decided that he must remain here. For the next day or ordered further investigations. The doctor at the clinic will mean only that, the patient probably fly out as soon as possible in the United States. He is now in the best hands of Ulaanbaatar, we can now Clyde alone. However, it is after 01:00 clock, buses are long gone, and Emiel and Connie can not exactly Explaining where to find the Guest House. Without a description but find it not the taxi driver. But the doorkeeper of the hospital knows the property and describes the taxi driver. When we arrive
there, most are still awake and waiting for us. Sorry, we do not come with the best news. But now we can do nothing once more. Fortunately, the hospital did not matter how close we previously indicated, a "Einrittspreis" of at least $ 300 required, Clyde is insured and it will probably conceded but only after completion of treatment, but probably hard.
After Martin, a Scot, or Clyde's wife informed by telephone, the Assembly will dissolve slowly.

(aber zwei Flaschen nehmen wir nach With Germany, maybe the beer keeps yes and we had promised it to Ole, the harbor master at the pier in Mirow, yes.

Friday 06 August 2010

Connie makes the morning on the door of the cabin, looks outside and can hardly believe it - she's not the bike, but the luggage rack of the bike identified - it is that of Luc. Also
Matthias looks incredulously - not only because he was still half asleep. Our Luc, the last email we received from Novosibirsk and Mongolia not really had on his route.
He is sitting on the terrace at the Cologne Gesa and Kristen; correct, the three were indeed as we do at the same time in Samarkand, and know each other. And Luc knows all anyway, and all who know him. He - always friendly, always open and always under discussion. After just a few hours, he is also something of the kind soul who brings people together. He greets everyone who comes and welcomes him when he would be the receptionist. And among those who were here before him, he introduces himself with a handshake.
Luc ...
... and his crazy-packed motorcycle, which he claims that it is perfect at the end of the trip.
Our Luc - nice to see him again.
faähr away But Paul, who traveled from Australia to Thailand, where it has met with Jost. Together they have then traveled to China to Mongolia, this time being their separate ways.

Paul Rixon, Australia

We drive today, again with the bus into town. Today we want to finally Gandan - visit the monastery.

Thursday 5 August 2010

The weather is a little better and we will take the bus into town.
Since it is already after noon, we seek first the way to the brewery. After a victory lap, we also find the restaurant, a brewery is attached, which has built up a German here in Ulaan Bataar. And the card and even more so the food us away from the socks. Matt chooses a sausage plate and it's all depends what your heart desires.

After starving the last Wochen kämpft er sich duch Weißwurst, Bockwurst, Käsekrajner und Leberwurst.
Kalte Getränke, Kuchen und Snacks gibt es 24 Stunden around the clock, you wear what you eat in a "kitchen pass" one. But many just come later in the evening of the tour or from the airport, then you are lucky, if still something of the rich, homemade cakes in the refrigerator. The two
Eating a little sleep, but almost at the table, they had a hard day.
